The Evolving Theology of the Eternal Gods.
Joseph Smith Published what is now called Section 20 of the Book of Doctrine and Covenants in which he asserts that Jesus Christ is speaking through him, and says among other things, that the Book of Mormon "Contains the Fullness of the Gospel".
That is very important relative to Mormon authority and authenticity claims,as I will explain here.
The Book of Mormon is one of the 2 main pillars of the claims of restored truth upon which the church has marketed the theme of Divine Restoration in the Dispensation of the Fullness of times. We have been told many times by Church Leaders that the Book of Mormon is "True". Further it has been suggested that if the Book of Mormon is True ,then the LDS Church must therefore also be Isreal's Gods "One True Church".
With around 200 Denominations of Mormonism in existence ,this is a Claim that many of them may make, although it is obviously an outdated assertion when more than 1 denomination exists claiming divine authority through succession from Joseph Smith, However now we are going to focus on the fact that the Book of Mormon states that God's course is one eternal round and that there is no shadow in changing in the Eternal God, While it contains essentially Christian Doctrines and presents a Trinitarian or Modalistic style God, in fact stating that Jesus Christ is the Very Eternal Father, also states in the Book of Ether Chapter 3 that Jesus Christ is the Father.
This doctrine is repeated several times in the Book of Mormon although several passages have been altered since the early versions of the book were published and had been declared True "As the Lord your God liveth" in D&C Section 17 verse 6. With The Lord supposedly declaring the Book as published to be True, then how is it we have such changes as altering verses which formerly stated that Mary was the Mother of God in the 1830 version of the Book of Mormon now saying that she is the Mother of the Son of God? Further Joseph Smith gave us his new Inspired Translation of the Bible in which he tells us that The Father is the Son and the Son is the Father, in Luke Chapter 10 verse 23.
These teachings have changed much in Mormonism since the Book of Mormon was published and the Bible Re-"Translated" by Joseph Smith. This Doctrinal Evolution of the Godhead has included the teaching of a separate Father and Son in lecture 5 of the "Lectures on Faith", which were originally the reason that the Doctrine and Covenants was so named, as they were important Doctrine.
They were subsequently deleted when the Godhead changed again and the Father went from being a Spirit, while Jesus had a Resurected Physical Body to the Father catching up to Jesus in his Eternal Progression characteristics in Mormon Theology, by getting a body, just like Jesus. The Holy Ghost also got an upgrade along with the Father in D&C Section 130 by going from former status of being the "Combined Mind and Will of God and Christ", like unto the Microsoft Cloud to becoming a real Spirit man. This of course goes well with the Doctrine of the pre-mortal existence of all of as Spirit Children of the now Glorified
Resurrected Father in Heaven and his
Wife or Wives as Heavenly Mother Godesses.
Joseph gave us several new Doctrines in his Evolving Gospel of Salvation which resembled those of the Spiritualist Emmanuel Swedenborg, who Joseph praised except his ability to bring home the money to live on.
The Book of Mormon also clearly teaches the Christian version of rewarding our deeds with an everlasting stay in either Heaven or Hell. We find that that also changes in the D&C Sections 19 and 76 as well as 138 in ways that Mr. Swedenborg might agree with much more than the Christian Theology found in the Book of Mormon.
The Videos found in this Page will address these and other such issues. The Book of Mormon teaches that God is Unchanging and would cease to be God should he fail his own edicts in Alma Chapter 37, our New Doctrines which contradict those in the Book of Mormon or in other words essentially falsify those they contradict in the Book of Mormon , present an authenticity problem of massive proportion as found in the D&C.
